The Union Stockyards of Omaha, Nebraska, were founded in 1883 in South Omaha by the Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha. Businessmen chartered the Union Stock Yards on July 26, 1887, and opened their 258-acre facility north of the Trinity River in midsummer 1889. This facility was purchased in 1958 from the Hillsboro Livestock Co.,president Walter West and Secy Treas Dwight E. Teegardin. The Scott building is still standing and is used by the Hillsboro High School,located west of our Stock Yards.
